These terms govern your use of the PFO website, its free calculators, and the PFO app ("the Service"), operated by Personal Financial Officer ("PFO", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. They work together with our Privacy Policy.
Information only — not financial advice
PFO shows you your own money and general information about Australian tax, super and money concepts. It does not provide personal financial product advice or tax advice, and it never recommends specific products or securities. The calculators are estimates based on published ATO and state figures and don't account for your full circumstances. Before making a decision, verify the details and consider advice from a registered tax agent or a licensed financial adviser. You're responsible for decisions you make.
Accuracy of estimates
We take care to base calculators and content on current, sourced figures, but rates and rules change and errors can occur. We don't warrant that every figure is accurate or complete, and we're not liable for decisions made in reliance on them. Always confirm important numbers with the official source (for example, ato.gov.au or your state revenue office).
Your account and data
You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for the information you add. Your data stays yours — you can export it or delete your account and its data at any time. How we handle it is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions and billing
The core PFO ledger is free. Paid tiers (PFO+ Coach and PFO+ Tax) add features for a recurring subscription, billed through the relevant app store. Prices are shown before you subscribe. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled under the applicable app store's policy and Australian Consumer Law. Founding pricing, where offered, applies on the terms stated at sign-up.
Acceptable use
Use the Service for your own lawful, personal purposes. Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or misuse it, and don't rely on it as a substitute for professional advice where that's needed.
Intellectual property
The PFO name, brand, site, calculators and content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may use the calculators and read the guides for personal use; you may not copy or redistribute the site or its content commercially without permission.
Availability and changes
We may update, suspend or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may change these terms. When we make material changes we'll revise the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you submit to the jurisdiction of its courts.
